Angler And Young Angler
Published March 5, 2009

Steinbach, MB Canada, March 4, 2009: We are very pleased and excited to report that the first annual Angler Young Angler Fund Raising Banquet was an overwhelming success. Scheduled on Saturday, February 28th during the Mid-Canada Boat Show, the event included an evening with a full sit down meal, cocktails, incredible auction items and a presentation to update the crowd of the program's development.

There are many organizations and individuals that stepped up and supported the event including but not limited to, Brunswick Corporation, Lund Boat Company, Winnipeg Blue Bombers, Mainline Industries, Peller Estate Ltd., Manitoba Metis Federation, Manitoba Fisheries, CanadInn, Kenora's Super 8, Winnipeg Sport & Leisure and Woodlake Marine to name a very few.

The auction items were astounding! A guided fishing trip for 4 with Bob Izumi and Gord Pyzer, as well as trips with the following angling superstars: Alex Keszler, Jeff Gustafson, Todd Longley, Steve Wintemute, and Craig Stapon!  A trip to Jackson's Outpost was incredibly well received thanks to the donation from the Jackson family as well as a once in a lifetime hunting trip to Dryden, Ontario courtesy of John Butts Guiding Service were also contributors.  An 1825 Lund Rebel XL Sport, Mercury 115 o/b and Shoreland'r trailer were auctioned off for a great price along
with a Brunswick pool table, and air hockey table and a Life Fitness elliptical.

The event took place at the Delta Winnipeg just across the street from the Convention Center where the Mid-Canada Boat Show was held. The Mid-Canada Boat Show supported the AYA Fund Raising Event by providing complimentary show tickets to all those who purchased an AYA Banquet ticket.

Proceeds exceeded our goal as we raised over $25,000 to help manage the extraordinary development of the AYA program across North America which continues to introduce families to the sport of competitive fishing.

A big 'Thank You' to the AYA Banquet Committee members: Andrew Klopak, Todd Longley, Darrin Bohonis, Steve Wintemute, Ryan Sproule, Kim Hamilton, Don Price, Craig Stapon, Jason Gauthier, Ali Everett, & Michelle Trudeau.

The feedback has been all positive and we are very excited to begin plans for next year!

There is another AYA Fund Raising Event scheduled on March 14th and will take place during the Minneapolis Northwest Sportshow. For more information, visit:     www.angleryoungangler.com/MplsBanquet.com or contact: Michelle Trudeau, 204-782-6442 or Kenny Olson, 612-759-3131.
