The weather has been very cold as of late, driving down water temps and preparing the local lakes for Ice!

If the cold weather holds, we will be ice fishing in 3 weeks or less in the Rhinelander, area.

It is getting close. I forgot to bring the bird bath in and the water froze.

I would venture to say, just about all waters north of highway 64 are going to be good enough to fish. With the temps below freezing every night for the last couple weeks or so, all lakes have been locked up for at least a week now. I would still take caution on all lakes.

Hit the Chequamegon Sat. morning for a few hrs. managed a few gills. Small perch a real problem. People up the ying yang running around on wheelers making alot of noise and complaining about not catching anything. Noticed some people on Anderson and Sacketts Lakes. Total gills for the week-60 plus, 42 in the freezer for fish fries. Pike for pickling is next on the agenda. Later Rooster
