I acquired some old Beaver Dam (or spinner top) style tip ups and want to replace the grease in the shaft tubes. Any recomendations for a grease that will not get stif in cold weather and cause the spool to turn hard.

Frabill came out with a great lube called Sub-Zero. I bought a tube early this fall and re lubed a few reels with it and am happy with it.

Best thing is to remove the rods from the tubes, use brake cleaner or similar spray and compressed air to thoroughly clean the tubes. I tried many different greases and oils before admiting my stuborness and using the blue lube from HT. It's been 3 years since I had to relube them....good as new, when your done. Clean the rods real well of any rust too, scotch brite pad good for that.
